Ebbsfleet Development Corporation has approved plans presented by architects BPTW and developer Bellway to bring forward 56 homes in the Alkerden neighbourhood of Ebbsfleet Garden City.

Alkerden Parcel 3, a key site within the Whitecliffe development, which is set to become a well-designed and thriving residential neighbourhood, continuing the transformative work being carried throughout Ebbsfleet.

Bellway will be delivering a range of homes fronting the Fastrack bus corridor and next to Alkerden Education Campus. A mix of bespoke dwellings (16 flats, 8 coach houses and 32 family-sized town houses) will be provided, with 52% designed to reach M4(2) Accessible and Adaptable standards.

Bellway and their design team have worked closely with the Corporation’s Planning Team to deliver several sustainability measures through a combination of energy efficiency measures including  air source heat pumps to every dwelling, together with thermally efficient building fabrication and water efficiency measures.

The project will enhance local biodiversity through landscaped private and public spaces and with additional tree and shrub planting. Given the sites location, sustainable transport will be encouraged with direct access onto the Fastrack bus route and cycle storage provided for every home. The architectural design, layout and landscaping responds to local vernacular, helping to create a characterful homes within Ebbsfleet Garden City.

The approved housing forms part of Whitecliffe which, overall, will provide up to 6,250 homes in a unique landscape of cliffs, lakes and green public spaces.  Essential services and facilities will be within easy walking distance for residents, including schools, shops, community facilities, open spaces, and will provide a dedicated public transport corridor connecting Bluewater to Ebbsfleet International via the approved Fastrack bus route.

Mark Pullin, Director of Planning and Place for the Corporation, said:

“We are excited to see the progression of Alkerden Parcel 3 as it plays a crucial role in our vision for a vibrant, well-connected community in Ebbsfleet.

This development will provide much-needed homes while upholding our commitment to high quality planning and placemaking for the area.”
