Patients, families, and staff in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Darent Valley Hospital are now greeted by a beautiful new mural designed to bring calm and reassurance during difficult times.
This creative installation is more than just art – it features heartfelt poems written by students Nathan and Jayden from St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School, Jasmine from Wilmington Grammar School sixth form and Lilah and Tegan from Stone Lodge School whose words are now permanently embedded into the wallscape. Their contributions add a deeply personal and uplifting touch to the clinical environment, helping to create a space that feels warm and supportive.
The project was delivered in partnership with Ebbsfleet Development Corporation and Allies and Morrison as part of their social value commitment to supporting the local community through their work across Ebbsfleet Garden City. Hospital staff were integral to the project, working alongside partners to guide the installation.

Through this project we are delighted to have the opportunity to get involved with local initiatives and to deepen our links with the communities of Ebbsfleet and the surrounding areas and we are particularly proud to support young people’s creativity.”
