Application for new homes in Alkerden Village Approved

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation has granted planning permission to Redrow Homes for 91 homes to be built in the growing Alkerden Village in Ebbsfleet.

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation has approved plans for 91 homes to be built in the growing neighbourhood of Alkerden South, set within Alkerden Village. Redrow Homes will be delivering the scheme, which has been designed to embrace the local topography, providing a high-quality scheme that provides a range of home styles to meet the diverse needs of occupiers.

The proposed development includes a range of apartment buildings and housing which will look out onto the adjoining green infrastructure and public open spaces as well as providing informal pocket orchards, edible foraging trails and community growing beds for residents to enjoy.  The development will provide a range of homes for affordable rent which Dartford Borough Council welcomes to address local need and help tackle current shortages for socially rented larger family housing.

Feedback from public consultations and the EDC Planning Committee have helped champion high-quality design of homes and the site which aligns with wider ambitions for Ebbsfleet.

In what is a challenging landscape to develop, the scheme has been designed to deliver against Garden City principles, providing mixed tenure homes and affordable housing types, as well as a development that enhances the natural environment and surrounding topography. Integrated and accessible transport systems, ranging from Electric Vehicle Charging points, to close access to local transport and walking routes, will ensure future residents are empowered to lead sustainable, healthy and active lives.

Construction will follow on from 227 homes secured in Redrow’s first phase in Alkerden, which opened doors to their show homes earlier this month.

Details for Redrow’s third phase in Alkerden is currently open for public consultation until Friday 11th August. See more: www.redrow-alkerden.co.uk
